About Me

Ten years ago I became a military spouse and moved to a duty station that was supposed to be six months long- it ended up being nearly a year before we PCS'd.

Nine years ago, I was told by my husband's commander that, "[you don't] need to work"--That I didn't need to stress about childcare because it was implied that I should quit my job and raise my children as that was less of a stress for my active duty spouse to handle.

Eight years ago, I quit my job to raise children so I could manage life with a spouse who was constantly gone. I realized that I was the one who had to make a change in order for our marriage to survive and for life to be less stressful.

Since then, finances have been a struggle as we pay off my student loans for a degree I've never used. We've faced several moves around the country, so many in fact, that my children have attended a different school for every grade, and while I've done odds and ends jobs that can be done from home that fit within our short time in each state, I wouldn't say I've had a career.

Two years ago I was given an opportunity because I was a military spouse, and now, I want to share that with other spouses. I want other spouses to know that while this military life is hard, it's teaching us skills that we couldn't have learned elsewhere. It's taught me that I am valuable not only to my family, community, and country, but I am a desired employee, a perfect match for many jobs and careers, and that I am able to have it all.
